The Hierophant
Major Arcana
This is tarot, a different tradition from astrology. The card is drawn at random: nothing in the sky chooses it. It is a prompt for reflection and it predicts nothing.
Reversed
What the tradition associates with this card when it falls the other way up.
Reversed, traditionally read as a step away from received teaching: questioning a custom, an institution or a mentor. It is associated with finding one’s own way of doing things and, less comfortably, with rules followed only out of habit.
